BURO II & ARCHI+I organize in collaboration with VUB Crosstalks ‘Open Academy’, an open platform for all those who are interested in contemporary social developments and its spatial consequences for living environments.
Our aim is to activate a debate, starting from some running social evolutions. ‘Open Academy’ wants to expose underlying structures and processes, together with their spatial consequences. This forms the basis for a rethinking and updating of the current architectural and urban practice.
Once a quarter, a reader is invited to the debate, which is defined on the basis of a wide spectrum of interdisciplinary angles.
For this lecture, we take part in Oeverture in Ghent, a design route alongside the Leie. This unique event spans a bridge between the themes design, water and city: At more than 20 locations in the city, all in the vicinity of the river Leie, designers from the world of textile, design and jewellery, for example, are exhibiting their work. Oeverture will be one big festival for all forms of contemporary design.
The Open Academy will briefly be more Open than Academy.
