Martin Manning, president of the jury, informs:

“The jury believes that this strategy for the site will provide both Architecture and Viability on, in Vitruvius’s words, ‘Delight’ and ‘Commodity’. The urban planning is right – a point intervention, an iconic beacon – which conserves the entire Casino, respects the beach and is integrated into the town. The organisation of the building includes all the necessary functions and is arranged flexibly enough so as to allow the investor to optimise the commercial aspects within an agreed framework. Some aspects of architectural style such as light, scale and the relationship between internal and external are timeless. But some, such as form, detail and construction method develop with time. These aspects of this proposal are both current and achievable. We are confident that the project is realisable and will provide to Knokke-Heist what is wanted.”
